The Calculated Genius Summer Scholars / Career Explorers Program is an innovative, four-week exploratory initiative designed to immerse Chicago’s high school students in the vast world of engineering and technology. This unique program offers participants direct access to industry professionals through hands-on job experiences, virtual Q&As, career panels, and workshops. These workshops cover essential skills and knowledge areas, including financial literacy, effective networking, scholarship and career pathway exploration, resume building, mock interviews, and foundational modules in cybersecurity, game design, and engineering.

This is a transformative opportunity for students to connect with Chicago's leading engineering & tech minds, and some of the most important companies on the planet: KPMG, Burns & McDonnell, KDM Engineering, LinkedIn, Motorola, Unity, and ComEd. Participants will leave the program having hopefully uncovered the myriad of educational and vocational pathways available to them, paving the way to a fulfilling, rewarding career.

Structured like an internship, the program runs from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with additional pre-scheduled, in-person engagements with Chicago's top engineering and tech firms. It is a hybrid program to ensure maximum accessibility, offering device loans at no cost to students without access to a device and stable internet when possible.

Students involved in their high school's work-based learning programs may be eligible for compensation, alongside free citywide transportation for the program's duration. Eligibility for compensation and other benefits requires registration through their school's Work Based Learning program and confirmation of eligibility through Angela Acevedo at amacevedo6@cps.edu or by contacting ctepartnerships@cps.edu.
